This week, our dedicated teams have been hard at work preparing for the next phases of building North America’s largest lithium project. Pictured above is one of High Mark Construction’s scrapers, used to cut and lay the general fill.
On-Site Action: Sculpting the Landscape Sawtooth Mining:  This week, our mining team has been focused on:  Building the west ramp and access road Repairing haul roads after recent rain Clearing and preparing the construction laydown area for receiving equipment / materials to construct the project facilities, starting in Nov. 2025 Preparing a new access point near the NDOT cattle guards  Leveling the alluvial stockpile (deposits of sand, gravel, clay and sediments) by moving and compacting materials to create a uniform surface that meets the project’s engineering requirements
Pictured above are 48-inch diameter plastic piping culverts that will be placed under the site entry road to allow stormwater to flow under the road to natural areas.
Highmark Construction: Precision Earthmoving Our construction team continues to shape the future of Thacker Pass: Placing and compacting general fill on the eastern plant pad Carefully grading slopes on the southern plant pad Preparing the groundwork for ‘Volt Road’ – a name chosen to celebrate the site’s domestic energy production mission
Pictured above, Bechtel craft workers are clearing the old mine entrance.
Union Craft Workers: Building Momentum Union workers are now on site and are crafting a new chapter. The main tasks recently accomplished include:  Relocating the lunch facilities Setting up new environmentally approved portable generator systems Preparing additional parking areas (pictured)  Managing site logistics and deliveries Assembling office equipment Cleaning SR 293 Controlling dust on site roads
Behind the Scenes: Project Preparations

Engineering and Design Progress LAC and Bechtel engineering and key construction teams are working on a 3D computer generated model of the process plant for critical processing systems and constructability reviews Reviewing building layouts for pre-engineered metal buildings
