1. In sports: The Summer Olympics run through the 11th . . . the Little League World Series starts the 14th . . . the NFL preseason starts tonight . . . the new college football season kicks off the 24th . . . and the U.S. Open of tennis begins August 26th.
2. On TV: Adult Swim’s new anime version of “Rick & Morty” premieres the 15th . . . season four of “Only Murders in the Building” starts on Hulu the 27th . . . and “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season two hits Prime August 29th.
3. In theaters: “Borderlands“ opens next Friday along with M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie “Trap“. Then “Alien: Romulus“ opens the 16th, and the new remake of “The Crow“ with Bill Skarsgard opens August 23rd.
4. And finally, the holidays: This Saturday is National Grab Some Nuts Day . . . the 12th is Vinyl Record Day . . . the 13th is Lefthanders Day . . . the 16th is National Rum Day . . . and August 20th is National Radio Day.
