There’s a photo going viral of a sprawling mansion sitting on top of a 33-story building in India. It’s supposed to look like the White House, but it’s not quite as big. (Here’s the picture.)
The photo looks like something A.I. made, but it’s real. The rich guy who built it started construction more than a decade ago. It reportedly cost over $20 million.
A reporter called it an “extreme example” of a trend that’s been picking up steam. The world’s wealthiest people are bored with their normal penthouses and want something more impressive.
Unfortunately, the guy might never get to live in his stupid skyscraper house. He fled India in 2016 after he was accused of fraud and money laundering.
His name is Vijay Mallya. If he ever goes back, they’ll throw him in jail. He’s the former chairman of United Spirits, one of the largest liquor companies in the world. (El País)
